Pleocaulus sessilis (Nees) Bremek. [as Strobilanthes sessilis Nees] Wight, R., Spicilegium Neilgherrense, Plant small shrub about 60cm to 1 mt height, many branches formed from base , stem lower slightly quadrangular upper sparcely, towards one side parts converted to pinkish/reddish, leaves opposite deccusate, sessile, cordate shape acute with bristle hairs, six to eight main nerves in leaf, 4-6cm long 4-5 width, flowering during september, place Mullayyanagiri , Bababudengiri and kemmangundi area fully in flowering season during sep 12, 2014.

Cyanobacterial biofertilizer inoculum-Preparation method By Kiranmae.P.Nagwand, Associate Professor of Botany, I.D.S.G.Govt .College, Chikmagalur, 577102 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Difficult words: Algalization, inoculum, Fogg’s medium, N 2 fixing strains, symbiotic, BGA flakes. Algalization* (Venkataraman (1961) needs inoculum preparation. Cyanobacteria like Nostoc, Anabaena isolation, inoculum preparation methods are expensive as it involves use of Fogg’s medium, incubation and culturing. The importance of research in especially agricultural practices should be simple, inexpensive, so that at farmer’s level it is easily put in practice. In 1990, Department of Biotechnology, government of India, New Delhi established four major centres in different paddy growing areas for low cost development of indigenous technology for mass production of cyanobacteria, to isolate regional specific fast growing better N 2 fixing strains, to demonstrate the farmers in fields. Observation The Pteridophyte Salvinia has symbiotic association with N2 fixing cyanobacteria. In areas where lakes and ponds are more, Salvinia available naturally and even grows luxuriantly in eutrophicated lakes. The isolation of it is also simple because it is free floating. It is observed practically in College garden that Salvinia plant about 20cm long and 5-7cm in width, thrown on garden soil, it was watered once in every day. The Salvinia plant became dried. Continuous wetting of this caused growth of Nostoc in it and gave about 10-12grams of pure Nostoc inoculum wet flakes. It is also observed that once it is introduced in garden, continuously it appears on soil, after the approach of rain year after year. It is in preliminary work of observation that to be conforming, whether 1.colony is comes from Salvinia(veg) or 2. it is on soil, Invaded in to the dried/wet plant of Salvinia during dry occasions, because of aerenchyma, it might store water and Nostoc able to grow in it or it is in Salvinia sporocarps and developed in sporangia. Either the cases we can prepare inoculum, as in 2end we can use the dried and then wetted hydrophytes mass for the easy growing of Nostoc. . It is to be identified that like in 3erd case if it is formed in sporocarps, let them form and then observation to be continued. Conclusion The algal flakes may use as inoculum for further large scale preparation or may use as directly in fields. Moreover, the cyanobacteria inoculants can be stored for more than three years without any loss in viability. For one hectare of Paddy field, ten kg of BGA inoculant is applied, after ten days of transplantation of Rice seedlings, powder of BGA flakes is dispersed which grows luxuriantly in water. It has been found that BGA inoculant increases crop yield by 34% and saves nitrogen fertilizer by 30%.
